In the Biolapse Botanical Timelapse Studio, the growth process of yellow radish microgreens — cultivar ‘Zeeuwse Gele Zeepies’ (Zlata) from Vreeken’s Zaden — has been captured in detail. The plant belongs to the Brassicaceae family.
The microgreens were grown in a Grow-Grow Nut — a biodegradable coconut shell that serves as a compact and sustainable growing container.
A total of 1593 images were captured at 10-minute intervals. For the final video, a curated selection of these images was combined into a smooth timelapse that shows the early growth of the radish sprouts — from the moment they emerge above the surface to the first unfolding of leaves. The germination itself occurs within the coconut fibre and is not visible in the video. The timelapse was produced in 4K resolution (3840×2160) and encoded in Apple ProRes 422 for optimal image quality.
Biolapse creates high-quality timelapse films that reveal the hidden life of plants — perfect for promotional content, education, product presentation, or inspiring visuals for social media.
