In the Biolapse Botanical Timelapse Studio, the complete life cycle of the cyclamen tuber (Cyclamen coum), from the primrose family (Primulaceae), has been recorded. The film begins with the sprouting of shoots from the tuber, followed by flowering, and finally the natural dying off of leaves and flowers.
Because the cyclamen is a dry bloomer, the tuber could be filmed without a growing medium, making it appear as if it is floating. This creates a special visual effect and clearly exposes the above-ground development. There is hardly any activity at the bottom of the tuber; the focus is entirely on what happens above.
During recording, 12,939 images were taken at intervals of 10 minutes. From these, a selection was made and compiled into a smooth timelapse in 4K resolution (3840×2160).
Biolapse produces high-quality timelapse films that reveal the hidden life of plants — ideal for educational, commercial, or artistic applications.
